Discussion within the framework of the project “Implementation of call-up monitoring”
00:00, June 8, 2009 | News | Rights of Soldiers/RecruitsOn June 6, 2009, HCA Vanadzor organized a discussion in “Asparez” Gyumri journalists’ club within the framework of the project “Implementation of call-up monitoring” supported by OSCE Yerevan office. The project staff and the monitors of Shirak region participated in the discussion.
The goal of the discussion was to supervise the course of the monitoring, to reveal the problems and discuss ways of solution.
Each participant presented his/her observations, problems, impressions and attitude towards themselves and the recruits during the monitoring in Akhuryan, Artik, Maralik and Gyumri. In particular, they pointed out that it was easier to have interviews with the recruits in the higher educational institutions, where they were more sincere, than in the commissariats where the recruits HAVING passed the medical examination felt constrained. In Gyumri there has been a discriminatory attitude towards the recruits, but in general the process of medical examination was rather quiet. The monitors underlined that there was more polite attitude in Maralik and Akhuryan by the recruits, their parents and commissariat employees. They presented cases when recruits with health problems were taken to regular service instead of non-regular.
At the end of the discussion, the coordinator of HCA Vanadzor A. Sakunts attached importance to interviews with those who passed republican medical examination in ORDER to reveal the problems more effectively.
Similar discussions are also planned in Lori and Taush regions.
