Serzh Sargsyan to Feel Revulsion against those who Voice Army Issues Discussion
12:53, February 14, 2013 | News | Electoral Rights, Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesSerzh Sargsyan didn’t anyhow respond to the concerns raised by ecologists over the exploitation of Teghut mines prior to 2008 presidential elections: back then Vazgen Manukyan and Artur Baghdasaryan did it for him who at this point keep silent due to known reasons. Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy President of “Transparency International” NGO notified about this at a discussion on issues related to ecology, city planning and Army by stating that currently Teghut related and other ecological issues are excluded from Serzh Sargsyan pre-election program.
“It is absurd that the incumbent president, whose serving term is 5 years, is fully engaged in destroying of the Mother Nature although he has chosen a leaf as his pre-election symbol. I consider it immoral that insignificant success achieved by the activists is presented as his own achievement in his pre-election clips”, said Ayvazyan.
Artur Sakunts, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor made a reference to the incumbent presidents’ approach regarding Army related issues and stated that the president felt revulsion against those who voiced Army issues, by holding an opinion that only he was entitled to unveil those issues and in case of remarks by others could turn them into betrayers.
“Why have you thrown yourself into competition, when you have done nothing within this 5 years, you haven’t even brought in any idea?” said Artur Sakunts.
Another participant of the dissuasion Levon Barseghyan, Chairman of Gyumri “Asparez” Journalists’ Club, noted that still the Soviet Union impact existed in the Army and under the name of military secrets they didin’t reveal the procurement competition participants, who are in charge of providing beef and tooth paste and other supplies. According to Barseghyan, such additional secrecy leads to the rise of corruption risks. “Struggle against corruption in Armenia leads to its spreading since reports on crimes bring about new cases of bribery”, noted Sakunts.
