Court hearing on Anzor Karapetyan’s case postponed
13:12, October 5, 2016 | News, Own news | Detention FacilitiesToday, on October 4, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Armavir marz (region) held the next-in-turn court hearing on Anzor Karapetyan’s case who died on January 4, 2016 at Armavir penitentiary.
At the court hearing, A. Chatinyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor and representative of A. Karapetyan’s successor, presented the grounds of the appeal against the decision of Armavir Marz (Regional) Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on initiating no criminal prosecution against the other persons involved in the fight with Anzor Karapetyan and suspending the criminal proceedings.
The prosecutor supervising the case and the defendant party objected to the claim.
The court hearing was postponed due to the end of the working day.
Note that after a fight with Anzor Karapetyan involved in Armavir town on December 31, 2015, he presented himself to the police voluntarily and was then arrested. A. Karapetyan was charged under Article 34-104 (attempted murder) of the RA Criminal Code.
On January 3, 2016, in the evening, he was detained by a court ruling and transferred at night to Armavir Penitentiary, where some hours later he was found dead.
On April 27, 2016, Ani Chatinyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor and representative of Anzor Karapetyan’s successor, appealed the decision of Armavir Marz (Regional) Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on not initiating criminal prosecution against the other persons involved in the fight with Anzor Karapetyan and suspending the criminal proceedings first to the higher authorities and then to a court of law.
