Court Hearing on Serviceman Grisha Khachatryan’s Death Case Adjourned Again

Petrosyan, resumed a court hearing to examine the appeal of Artur Sakunts, representative of victim’s successor Murad Khachatryan, under the case of serviceman Grisha Khachatryan’s death. Note that in his appeal, A. Sakunts required to stop the violation of victim Grisha Khachatryan’s (aggrieved party under criminal case № 91153414) rights and forward the case for supplementary preliminary investigation. The hearing was attended by appellant A. Sakunts, Levon Yeghoyan, Deputy Head of 8th Garrison Investigation Department under RA Investigative Committee General Military Investigation Department responsible for the investigation, and Anushavan Harutyunyan, Deputy Military Prosecutor at the Garrison. At the court hearing of September 28, 2015, A. Sakunts presented the appeal and the supplementary notes thereto drafted after getting familiar with the criminal case files. Afterwards, he provided arguments for the failure to properly investigate a number of facts on G. Khachatryan’s death and his violated right to life. A. Sakunts also asked to stop the violation of victim G. Khachatryan’s rights and forward the case for supplementary preliminary investigation. L. Yeghoyan, responsible for the investigation, and supervising prosecutor A. Harutyunyan requested the Court to adjourn the hearing so that they could get familiar with A. Sakunts’ supplementary notes to the appeal and provide their position thereon. The Court will resume examination of this appeal on October 22, 2015 at 4 pm. Note that on June 20, 2014, at about 10:35 am, G. Khachatryan, conscript serviceman at RA Defense Ministry military unit N, died of bullet wounds in the right side of his head, at the military unit base watch post. On June 20, 2014, criminal proceedings were initiated under murder, and G. Khachatryan was considered victim. Yet, the preliminary investigation resulted in a decree to discontinue the criminal proceedings due to lack of elements of crime.
