Villagers had no drinking water for over 2 weeks
18:43, March 4, 2017 | News, Own newsA few days ago, Suren Martirosyan from Mrgastan village in Armavir marz (region) consulted Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor and said that for ten days the residents of 4th street of the village had no drinking water.
To solve the problem, the residents applied to the competent bodies and called the Government’s hotline, but the only result was ‘Veolia Water’ Company’s assurance that the problem would be solved; yet, the Company took no step to solve it.
Based on the citizen’s alert, HCA Vanadzor applied to ‘Armenian Water and Sewerage’ CJSC to solve the problem as soon as possible. Later, in response to the call of an Organization’s staff member seeking information on the actions taken, ‘Armenian Water and Sewerage’ CJSC stated that it was ‘Viola Water’ Company that dealt with such problems and ‘Veolia Water’ Company tried to attribute whatever happened to the inaccurate address of the person who reported the problem.
However, we managed to establish contact between the village resident who reported the problem and ‘Veolia Water’ Company staff member; as a result, the Company started work to solve the problem.
Yesterday we learnt that the water supply was restored. And as for the reason of its termination, it was impossible to find it out.
