Discussions on the April hostilities were held but at closed sessions
12:58, October 13, 2016 | News, Own news | Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesHighlighting the study of the hostilities of April 2-5, 2016, the circumstances of death of the servicemen perished in such hostilities and the publication of the findings, on September 7, 2016 HCA Vanadzor applied to the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs to hold parliamentary hearings on the topic above.
As we informed before, by reacting to the statement of A. Sakunts on the necessity to hold such parliamentary hearings, the RA Defense Ministry has already expressed its willingness to attend parliamentary hearings on the topic above in case of relevant initiative regardless of their format and questions.
And as for the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, by its letter of October 3, 2016, it referred to a number of closed meetings held at their initiative and with their participation and said that the discussions above also covered the topic proposed by us.
Interestingly, all the meetings and events mentioned by the RA NA Standing Committee were held in closed format, which in itself makes it impossible to make them public whereas our proposal aimed to hold public discussions and the RA NA Standing Committee has not addressed it so far.
Note that the Organization’s letter above specifically highlighted the need to make public the findings of the study of the April hostilities.
However, HCA Vanadzor will publish the findings of its study and we hope that the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs will show an adequate approach and coordinate the public hearing of that issue.
