December 10: International Day of Human Rights Protection
15:37, December 10, 2014 | News, Own newsDecember 10 is International Day of Human Rights Protection. This day is marked by adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been translated into 375 languages and dialects and is considered the first global definition of rights entitled to every person. The Declaration consists of 30 articles and international treaties about economic, social and cultural rights, and it is considered a part of Universal Human Rights Bill with its two optional protocols equivalent to international treaties about civil and political rights.
In 1950 UN approved Human Rights Day in honor of the Declaration and since then it has been celebrated on December 10. Once in every 10 years, campaigns are organized to contribute to the implementation of Declaration and direct practice of human rights. “Human Dignity and Justice for All” campaign launched in 2007. All UN member states participated in the campaign. It lasted a year until the 60th anniversary.
HCAV office prepared a film dedicated to the International Day of Human Rights Protection. The film is about the organization’s activities and the state of Human Rights in RA. Today we present you the short version of the film while longer version will be presented in nearest future.
