In case there are factual data on the case of the deceased of the Convict Hospital, legal assessment will be given to the actions of the PI official

On January 16, 2018 a criminal case was initiated on Mher Kherunts’ death case at the Convict Hospital that occurred on January 3, 2018.
Within the framework of the criminal case, assessment will also be given to the conduct of First Deputy Head of the PI Arman Ayvazyan if “factual data are obtained in regard to him committing the alleged crime.”
We have been informed of this through the response of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office that was issued on January 25, 2018 in regard to the crime report submitted by HCA Vanadzor.
HCA Vanadzor submitted the crime report on January 10, 2018 on the basis of the following publication on the news website operativ.am: “Even if 10 people die; stand still when you see me. The convict has died at the Convict Hospital through the fault of the deputy head of the PI.”
After Mher Kherunts’ health deteriorated at the Convict Hospital, the doctors who came to his help were unable to enter his cell in time, as a result of which M. Kherunts died.
According to the news website operativ.am, First Deputy Head of the PI Arman Ayvazyan, who was on duty, opened the door 30 minutes after the alert of the convicts, when M. Kherunts had already passed away.
In response to the convicts’ complaints, he said, “Even if 10 people die, lower your tone and stand still when you see me.”
In response to the crime report, Head of the Department of Supervision over the Legality of Investigation and Preliminary Investigation of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office A. Harutyunyan informed that a criminal case was initiated on the case on January 16, 2018. And the aforementioned publication of operativ.am exists in the materials of the case, and, in case relevant factual data are obtained, legal assessment will be given to A. Ayvazyan’s act.
