Lia Misakyan’s Case Appeals Adjourned
16:36, September 24, 2015 | News, Own newsOn August 31, 2015, a court hearing on the case of 2-year-and-3-month-old Lia Misakyan’s death was scheduled at the RA Criminal Court of Appeal, presided by judge G. Avetisyan. Note that the ruling of the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts, Yerevan was appealed by Artur Sakunts and Tatevik Siradeghyan, legal representatives of the victim’s successor, and by Givi Hovhannisyan and Yerem Sargsyan, advocates of defendants Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan. However, the court hearing of August 31, 2015 was adjourned due to the absence of prosecuting attorney Davit Karapetyan and Z. Ayvazyan’s advocate Y. Sargsyan.
While at the previous hearing, prosecuting attorney D. Karapetyan had informed the Court of his vacation and said that another prosecutor would replace him at the subsequent court hearing, actually no prosecutor of the Yerevan Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts Prosecutor’s Office attended the hearing. Defendant Z. Ayvazyan stated that her advocate Y. Sargsyan was abroad and could not attend the hearing. Due to the absence of prosecuting attorney, the parties to the trial motioned the Court to adjourn the hearing. The Court found that it was necessary to adjourn the hearing till September 8, 2015, 3 pm.
