Each year, on September 21, the international community celebrates the International Day of Peace.
By starting celebrating this day in 1982, the UN General Assembly aimed to strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among all nations.
Initially, it was celebrated on the 3rd Tuesday of September. In 2001, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to celebrate the International Day of Peace on September 21.
The General Assembly invites all nations to honor the International Day of Peace by non-violence and cease-fire.
