Workshop Held on Principle of Equality and Challenges of Discrimination in RA
On April 17-18, the HCA Vanadzor held a workshop in Aghveran on Principle of Equality and Challenges of Discrimination in RA, with the financial support of the OSF-Armenia. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among the staff of the RA MoH psycho-neurologic facilities and RA MoJ penitentiary facilities, lawyers, journalists and human rights defenders of human rights, principle of equality, forms and challenges of discrimination through enhanced knowledge and exchange of experience. The workshop was attended by representatives of the RA Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Department and offices, RA Ministry of Health Inpatient Medical Care Policy Department and psycho-neurologic facilities, journalists, lawyers and civic activists.
Yerevan Hosted Training on the Role of the Mass Media and NGOs in Combating Torture
On March 14, 2015, the HCA Vanadzor held training in Yerevan on the Role of the Mass Media and NGOs in Combating Torture for journalists and human rights defenders. The training was facilitated by Georgian experts, Tina Tsomaya and Nino Danelia, lecturers at the Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management (CSJMM), Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). The training aimed to improve the professional capacities of journalists and human rights defenders in absolute prohibition of torture and other manifestations of ill-treatment.

Promoting Local Human Rights Activism Project Summary
In August-December 2014, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor implemented the Promoting Local Human Rights Activism Project funded by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia. The Project covered human rights, journalism and activism trainings in eight cities in eight marzes (regions), namely Ashtarak, Armavir, Artashat, Gavar, Goris, Yeghegnadzor, Ijevan and Charentsavan.

A Letter of Complaint Submitted to RA Prosecutor General on Case of False Witnesses
On August 2, 2014, Pnjik Teroyan, resident of Vanadzor, applied to the HCA Vanadzor to protect her rights. According to P. Teroyan, back on April 4, 2012, she had reported a crime to the RA Police. The Vanadzor city Taron Investigation Division of the RA Police Lori Marz (region) Investigation Department initiated a criminal case based on the report. P. Teroyan claimed that the investigator had committed numerous violations during the investigative actions; particularly, by involving police officers as witnesses in such actions.
