A1+ sues NCTR Chairman
00:00, December 20, 2010 | News | Right to Fair TrialArmenia’s embattled A1+ TV Company, which was denied another broadcasting license in a frequency tender held by the National Commission on Television and Radio (NCTR) on December 16, has filed two actions against NCTR Chairman Grigor Amalyan.
Besides, Mesrop Movsesyan, President of Meltex” LLC, founder of “A1+” TV Company, has filed a separate action against Grigor Amalyan for calling him a “forger” without a court order.
A1+ received only two points during the competition compared with 44 points given to its rival company – ArmNews, a TV station now on the air that alternates its news programs with half-hourly retransmissions from pan-European news channel EuroNews.
Amalyan said the Commission discovered ‘fake’ documents in A1+’s package which were prepared by ‘unknown people.’
According to the NCTR Chairman, the name and the seal of one of the companies did not match while the second company mentioned in the package had been dissolved a couple of years ago.
Mesrop Movsesyan denied presenting any false documentation. He said the companies in question have affiliates in different countries, which accounted for the confusion.
The Paris-based influential company (SOS-CAMPING-LOISIRS) whose shareholder and representative Anna Tanelyan were called “dead souls” by Amalyan, has already sent a letter to Amalyan demanding to ground for the refusal and distrust in the company’s pledge to make € 280 000 investment in A1+.
Today, Mesrop Movsesyan announced that Meltex LLC is capable of implementing its contest package even without the $120 000 investment promised by the two foreign companies. Moreover, A1+ had submitted documents on making $ 700 000 investment instead of the required $ 680 000.
“The figures presented in A1+’s bid testify that the Company is ready to implement the program without the financial support of the two companies,” said director of “Forum” Legal Center Tigran Ter-Yesayan.
According to Mesrop Movsesyan the aforesaid companies which allegedly presented ‘fake’ documents voiced support for A1+ before the competition and they still need to clarify the aim of these companies.
“We are still looking for the guilty side. Either these companies or the NCTR will be brought to court,” added Tigran ter-Yesayan.
Further, he cited the RA Law on Licensing and said that the NCTR was to return A1+’s package upon finding ‘fake’ documents.
“They simply plotted this farce but they will be made accountable for it. If earlier we struggled to have airtime, today we are going to sue Amalyan for discrediting the good name of A1+ and its friends,” said Mesrop Movsesyan adding that A1+ has been cooperating with SOS-CAMPING-LOISIRS since 2003.
