Level of police arbitrariness towards citizens rose
On February 21, 2017, HCA Vanadzor held a discussion on ‘Situation of Human Rights Violations in Police-Citizen Relations in 2016’.
Report on elections to the Council of Elders of October 2, 2016 in Vanadzor and Gyumri cities presented
The presentation was attended by representatives of NGOs, governmental agencies, foreign embassies and the mass media. The Report was prepared under Capacity-building of Domestic Observer Organizations component of the European Union and Council of Europe joint project on Long-term Electoral Assistance to the Election Related Stakeholders of Armenia.
Discussion on Situation of Execution of European Court of Human Rights Judgments by Republic of Armenia held
On April 1, 2016, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor, with the financial support of the Open Society Foundations Armenia and Sigrid Rausing Trust, held a round-table discussion on Situation of Execution of European Court of Human Rights Judgments by Republic of Armenia at Ball Room, Congress Hotel.
The event brought together representatives of competent state agencies, international organizations, diplomatic missions to the Republic of Armenia and non-governmental organizations.

The First Round of Seminar-Training on “Advocates’ skills”
On September 24, 2011, a seminar-training on “Measures of restraint not connected with brining a person to Police, arresting and keeping him/her in detention” was held at Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor office, which was targeted for advocates, public defenders, and students. Advocates Edmon Marukyan and Ruben Hakobyan, members from the RA Chamber of Advocates, were enrolled as trainers.
The Issues over Exemption of Seriously Sick Convicts from Punishment were discussed
The Public Monitoring Group at Penitentiary Institutions of the RA Ministry of Justice informs that a meeting over the issues of punishment exemption of convicts suffering from diseases obstructing the service of sentences was convened on September 15.
RA Social-Economic and Political Situation was Discussed

”Partnership for Open Society” Initiative, which unites over 60 member organizations, held a discussion on “Amendments to RA Electoral Code: New Guarantees for Free and Fair Elections” with the participants of representatives from the National Assembly, international organizations, the civil society and the mass media.
Against Gender Discrimination
On March 21, 2011, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor organized an event on “Against Gender Discrimination”, which was dedicated to the International day for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination within the annual European-wide Action Week against racism initiated by UNITED European Network against Nationalism, Racism, Fascism and in Support of Migrants and Refugees.
