British Film Festival Took Place in Vanadzor
00:00, March 14, 2011 | Press ReleaseThe 9th British Film Festival opened March 10 through March 12, 2011 at the Cultural Palace named after Charles Aznavour. The British Film Festival featured the outstanding works by contemporary British cinematographers. The Vanadzor festival audience got a chance to view “The Arbor”, “Pink Saris”, and “Enemies of the People”.
“The Arbor” is the true story depicting the troubled and edgy relationship between Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar, and her daughter, Lorraine. The film was directed by Clio Barnard.
“Pink Saris” depicts the harsh and difficult realities of women’s lives. “A girl’s life is cruel…A woman’s life is very cruel,” summarizes Sampat Pal, the leading protagonist of the film.
“Enemies of the People” was the last presented at the festival. This film was about an investigative journalist whose family was massacred by the Khmer Rouge. It took the journalist a decade to befriend the criminals to get evidence on the murderers.
The festival makes British films appealing to youth because of its depiction of contemporary British life. The films were of great interest to the youth of Vanadzor.
