The relatives of deceased serviceman Zhorik Petrosyan do not believe in the official version of the death cause

 According to the data of the RA Ministry of Defense, at around 3.30 pm on July 24, 2018, the corpse of ordinary serviceman-combat soldier Zhorik /patronymic name: Vahag/ Petrosyan (born in 1999) was found in the combat position of one of the RA military units located in the south west. There was a gunshot wound in the head.

The serviceman drafted with health issues in January 2018 was declared unfit for military service and was discharged in June

The first training of the project “Human Rights Training for Conscripts” commenced in Yerevan

 The participants were mainly interested in the impartiality of choosing the place of performing military service by lot during the conscription and the corruption risks connected with it, the manifestations of unequal treatment when drawing lots, specific cases of deferment of compulsory military service, the structure of conscription, the issues relating to the structure of conscription committees as well as the amount of reimbursement for transportation costs given to servicemen in the case of basic leave being provided and other issues.

HCA Vanadzor regularly presents the cases of corruption and abuse that occurred during the hostilities of April 2016 and the situation of the resulting violations of servicemen’s human rights, the actions implemented by the authorities aimed at identifying and resolving those violations as the situation of the implementation of their obligations. This information paper touches upon the aforementioned issues, presenting the steps that have already been undertaken two years later.
