The Pre-trial Body Protects the Corruption
00:00, August 2, 2010 | Announcements | Prevention of CorruptionOn March 2010 HCA Vanadzor sent a letter to the prosecutor’s office of Lori region related to the illegal actions performed by the mayor of Lernapat village.
In general, the mayor of the village caused a damage of 11 million 665 thousand drams to the village.
Based on the message of HCA Vanadzor a criminal case has been brought against the village mayor for abuse of official position and official falsification. Signed statement on not going away was used for him as a precautionary measure, but he is still in office and works as the mayor of the village. The inhabitants are concerned about this.
The villagers say that by continuing his work, the mayor is using his liabilities to hide the actions (prohibited by the Criminal Code) he has performed. In particular, he is trying to influence the villagers who have been involved in the case as witnesses and who have submitted their testimonies against him. Besides, during the pre-trial his behaviour leaves its impact on the course of the investigation.
In such conditions it would be logical to stop the liabilities of the mayor Vano Yeghazaryan. The pre-trial body displays inaction by directly supporting the village mayor charged with corruption.
It becomes more evident that there is lack of consistence and will among the law enforcement bodies to expose corruption crime. Whereas, in case of small misconducts the law enforcement uses all its liabilities, along with abuses, against ordinary citizens, including demand for defining detention as a precautionary measure.
Based on the above-mentioned, we demand from the pre-trial bodies to solicitate for ceasing the official liabilities of Vano Yeghazaryan, the mayor of Lernapat village, in order to fully reveal corruption crime.
