Vulnerable Groups’ Right to Health in the Context of Human Rights

8 NGO representatives from Ijevan, Dilijan, Noyemberyan and Berd, students from the Regional Academy of Ijevan and the doctor-psychologist of Ijevan Medical Center participated in the training.
The participants were familiarized with the understandings of human rights and the right to health, the national and international legislation reflecting patients’ rights, the rights of patients defined by the European Charter.
There was discussion on the rights of drug users and people with AIDS/HIV as human rights of a vulnerable group.
The participants had the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge with practical exercises. In particular, they defined a vioaltion of a patient’s right in a concrete situation and could name it according to the European Charter of Patients’ Rights.
Artur Potosyan, the head of the NGO “Anti-drug Civil Alliance”, doctor-expert and the lawyer of the same organization Violeta Zopunyan were involved as experts.
The training was organized by HCA Vanadzor within the framework of the project “Legal Aid to the drug users of Lori, Shirak, Taush regions and the city of Yerevan”, which is implemented by the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia.
