“OPERA HOUSE STILL CORDONED OFF”
00:00, March 24, 2008 | Freedom of Assembly and AssociationDavid Shahnazarian was called to the police department of Yerevan’s central Kentron district this morning.
Shahnazarian was escorted by his lawyer and refused to bear testimony.
“They wanted to incur an administrative penalty on me. The whole process lasted 30-45 minutes. I think it is a mere political pursuit,” David Shahnazarian said to A1+.
David Shahnazarian says the police and law-enforcement forces rouse provocation against unknown civilians every day. Obviously it is illegal.
“People struggle against Kocharian while the latter stirs up discord between the army and people. I assure you that he will not succeed,” he says.
According to Mr. Shahnazarian people go for a walk to Liberty Square but the police bans them. “Although no major incident has been provoked, the Opera House is still “incarcerated,” the state of emergency is still underway. The authorities fear the people.”
