The Claim on the Case of the Detainee’s Death in the Penitentiary was not Presented to the RA Court of Appeals

Yesterday, consideration of the claim of the representatives of Slavik Voskanyan’s successor, assigned to the RA Criminal Court of Appeals, against the decision of March 15, 2012 of the RA Court of Common Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan, did not take place. It is not known how long the court session is delayed on the claimants’ motion.
On March 22, 2012, the representatives of Slavik Voskanyan’s successor, submitted an appeal against the decision of the RA Common Court of Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan, according to which the Court had rejected the claim against the decision of G.Petrosyan, VIC Senior Investigator of Lori Region Investigation Service of the RA, to terminate the proceedings and to stop the criminal prosecution.
On December 30, 2010, a criminal case was initiated at the Lori Region Investigation Department of the RA Police on the fact that a detainee of the ”Vanadzor“ Penitentiary, Slavik Voskanyan, appealed to the Healthcare Department of that same Penitentiary on October 18, 2010 and received appropriate treatment by “Vanadzor” Penitentiary physician Marzpet Minasyan; however, Voskanyan died on October 24, 2010.
It was discovered during the preliminary investigation that patient Slavik Voskanyan died on October 24, 2010 as a result of improper implementation of the professional obligations and treatment by Vanadzor” Penitentiary physician, Marzpet Minasyan.
On August 30, 2011, G.Petrosyan ,VIC Senior Investigator of Lori Region Investigation Service of the RA, made a decision to terminate the proceedings and to stop the criminal prosecution.
On December 12, 2011, E. Marukyan and K. Tumanyan, the representatives of Slavik Voskanyan’s successor, submitted a claim to the RA Common Court of Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan, against the decision of G.Petrosyan, VIC Senior Investigator of Lori Region Investigation Service of the RA, , to terminate the proceedings and to stop criminal prosecution.
