“Being ready to concede the sovereignty is an anti-constitutional move”, Arthur Sakunts
05:54, October 21, 2013 | News | Civil Control“Being ready to concede the sovereignty and independence of Armenia for the sake of keeping their own power is an anti-constitutional move and a ground for bringing charges of the high treason”,- so spoke Chairman of HCA Vanadzor office, human rights activist Arthur Sakunts, in the interview with Aravot.am, assessing the opinion of a member of the Republican Party, former MP Rafik Petrosyan that “We must maintain our independence, but to resolve some general issues, we can concede some parts of the independence, some attributes like the states in the world are doing by yielding a small part of their independence and establishing a union”.
He said that he should have read the document, and then expressed an opinion. “Should they have at least studied the founding document of the Eurasian Economic Union, they would see that there is no value system in the document which is in line with Article 1 of our Constitution, which reads “a democratic, legal, social, sovereign state.” Also referring to authorizations of decision making of the Customs Union member-states, Mr. Sakunts said, – “The disposition of the RF has a primary role in the decision-making process made by transnational, trans-governmental entities of Eurasian Economic Union, because the votes are divided among 40 – RF, 15 – Uzbekistan, 15 – Kazakhstan, Tajikistan – 7.5 and 7.5 – Kyrgyzstan.
In other words, the RF has apparent predominance. The trans-governmental decisions are binding for the member states. Entering into the Union, we do not compromise the elements of sovereignty or independence, but lose the independence. You must totally abide by all decisions of these trans-governmental entities, in which the RF has the priority. From this point of view, entry into the Customs Union clearly contradicts the first and second Articles of the RA Constitution.”
To our observation that if the ruling wing, so far, was not so explicitly speaking about losing the elements of independence, now they speak out, does this mean that they are preparing something for the public, Mr. Sakunts answered,- “There is no concept of ruling wing. There is a person who, alone decides, he is the wing, the head, the neck, other parts of the body. Others just serve his actions or whims. Such an approach, when a person without consulting, taking the opinion into account, makes a decision, then, is coming and explaining back dated, and it is accepted, speaks about the times of political bureaus. It speaks of the fact that this slave-typical situation to obey the master or the leader is a dominant psychology for the group, who are merely servers.”
