Russian ambassador to Armenia is in anguish – human rights advocate
11:48, May 7, 2014 | News, Other news | Customs unionYEREVAN. – Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin has left his diplomatic status and is in violation of the Constitution of Armenia.
Human rights advocate Artur Sakunts told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the Russian diplomat’s statement that those NGOs in Armenia that want to drive a wedge into Russian-Armenian relations should be neutralized.
“The ambassador has no right to speak on behalf of Armenian-Russian relations. In addition, he needs to formulate his thoughts correctly; that is, the civil society is throwing the Russian ambassador in anguish.
“If the ruling [Armenian] authorities begin neutralizing the NGOs, this will prove that they contribute to the Russian fascism’s establishment in Armenia,” Sakunts stated, in particular.
The NGOs will fight—by way of marches and protests—against Ivan Volinkin’s statements.
