11:36, November 10, 2016 | News, Own news | Avetisyan familyAs reported before, the judgment of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) on the Avetisyans family murder dated August 23, 2016, by which V. Permyakov, military serviceman at Russian military base № 102 and accused of the murder, was sentenced to life imprisonment, was appealed.
In the appeal, the representatives of the victims’ successors expressed a position that both Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation failed to fulfill their positive obligations, the investigation was carried out with a number of faults and the court did not process the motions on such faults.
The judgment of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) was also appealed on the part of the civil claim against Russian Federation on non-pecuniary damage compensation, which was also rejected by the court.
By its ruling of October 26, 2016, the RA Court of Criminal Appeals admitted the appeal and scheduled a court hearing on November 10, 2016, at 12 pm.
Furthermore, the appeal will be considered by notorious appellate presiding judge M. Arghamanyan who is also included in the list of the officials responsible for illegal actions under Mataghis case (he made the judgment on life imprisonment of 3 servicemen under Mataghis case).
Note that in March, the European Court of Human Rights made a judgment on Mataghis case by which it found violations of Article 3 (Prohibition of torture) and Article 5 (Right to liberty and security) of the ECHR and compelled RA Government to pay as compensation 50.000 EUR from the state budget.
Today, one of the officials who caused the state a damage of 50.000 EUR is still in office and moreover is entrusted with another high-profile case.
