HCA Vanadzor held trainings for lawyers representing ‘Independent Observer’ Alliance
17:54, March 1, 2017 | News, Own news | Electoral RightsOn February 24-26, 2017, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor held trainings for the lawyers representing the ‘Independent Observer’ Alliance, with the support of the Open Society Foundations-Armenia and the Czech Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The training was facilitated by lawyer Artur Harutyunyan, legal analysis and initiative programs specialist at HCA Vanadzor, who will also coordinate the activities of the lawyers’ team within the observation mission by the Alliance during the RA National Assembly elections to be held on April 2, 2017.
At the theoretical stage of the 3-day training, the lawyers got familiar with the amendments and controversial provisions of the Electoral Code, as well as peculiarities of the administrative proceedings and manuals and guidelines developed by the Central Election Commission and the Police.
The training participants discussed the procedures for submitting complaints and crime reports to election commissions and the Criminal Code articles related to election processes.
In the practical part of the trainings, their participants summed up the discussed topics through group work. The issues and alerts frequently raised by the observers served basis for planning the activities of the lawyers’ team during the coming elections.
