On February 1, 2018 the RA Administrative Court adjourned the examination of the claim filed by Armenian Women’s Front member Susanna Simonyan against the RA Police.
The Court rejected the application of the Ministry of Finance to be involved as a third party. The Ministry lodged an appeal against this decision with the Appellate Administrative Court.
It should be recalled that on September 20, 2017 S. Simonyan, together with the other members of the Armenian Women’s Front, attempted to stage a protest at the fountain area of the Republic Square in Yerevan.
As soon as the protest started, police employees surrounded her and, without any explanation, forced her into a police car to take her to the police station. Then, they told her that a misunderstanding had occurred and forced her out of the car.
With a claim filed with the Court, S. Simonyan requests to declare unlawful the police actions which caused violations of a number of her rights, and to oblige the RA Police to compensate for the non-pecuniary damages caused in the amount of 3000000 AMD.
