Ghazaryan, a participant in the protests that took place after the seizure of the Patrol-Sentry Service Regiment of the RA Police on July 17, 2016, under Article 225 § 2 (participation in mass disorders) has been halted on the ground of absence of a crime.
Ani Chatinyan, advocate at HCA Vanadzor, undertook the defense of Hovh. Ghazaryan’s rights. After Ani Chatinyan filed a motion, Hovh. Ghazaryan, who had been held in custody since 2016, was released from custody on February 13, 2017 in accordance with the court decision.
The RA Special Investigation Service released a statement on terminating the criminal prosecution. The criminal prosecution against a number of other protesters charged with organizing mass disorders in Sari Tagh in July 2016 was also terminated.
