Some patients with disability degree 2 are denied free medical treatment at Vanadzor Medical Center
11:35, February 8, 2017 | News, Own newsToday, on February 8, 2017, HCA Vanadzor received an alert that a patient with disability degree 2 receiving free dialysis treatment at Vanadzor Medical Center for already several weeks was informed today that he/she might no longer be treated under the state-funded scheme on the pretext of a relevant decision on the patient. The patient applied to the administration of the medical institution to get the said decision but it was not provided.
A HCA Vanadzor staff member tried to get clarifications on the incident from the RA Ministry of Health. A Ministry officer noted that they might provide no justification or explanation adding that some of the patients with a similar status received free medical aid and some did not and stated that currently the patient might be treated only on a paid basis.
Hence, neither the medical facility, nor the Ministry of Health provided any legal justification on the raised issue.
HCA Vanadzor also sent a letter to the RA Ministry of Health to ensure the right to free medical care of the person who alerted the Organization.
By such an arbitrary approach, the RA Ministry of Health not only violates the person’s right to health as enshrined in the Constitution, but also shows a discriminatory approach to different patients with the same status.
It should be added that the right of persons with disability degree 2 to free medical aid is enshrined in a number of legal acts.
