HCA Vanadzor carries on  protecting the rights of the successors of Anzor Karapetyan who died at Armavir penitentiary on January 4, 2016; the interests of the aggrieved party are protected by Ani Chatinyan, attorney at HCA Vanadzor. During the investigation into the case, the agency responsible for the proceedings assigned a forensic expert examination to find out the cause of the death and a forensic psychological examination to find out whether A. Karapetyan had any individual and psychological peculiarities that might have led him to a suicide.

The expert opinion on the forensic examination of the corpse established that A. Karapetyan’s death was caused by mechanical suffocation upon hanging.

9 months after A. Karapetyan’s death, the forensic psychological examination opinion was received which revealed that A. Karapetyan’s individual psychological peculiarities might not have affected his behavior in a way that would lead to a suicide. At the same time, the expert mentioned that due to the lack of relevant information, it was impossible to diagnose A. Karapetyan’s state of mind in the period before the suicide.

The forensic psychological examination confirmed the hypothesis originally brought forward by A. Karapetyan’s family, stating that he might not have committed suicide; he had strong willpower and deprivation of liberty might not have induced him to commit suicide.

And as for the conditions under which A. Karapetyan’s death was caused, the investigative agency should reveal them by examination.

The aggrieved party’s representative plans to submit a motion on assigning another expert examination.
