Hasmik Khachatryan’s domestic violence criminal court case
22:14, April 14, 2015 | Announcements, OtherOn April 17th 2015, at 11am Hasmik Khachatryan’s domestic violence criminal court case will be examined at the Republic of Armenia Court of Appeals. During the previous hearing the judges of the Court of Appeals asked questions that victimized Hasmik over and over again, accusing her of remaining in an abusive relationship without understanding the trauma that she faced during the 9 years of abuse and torture.
We remind you that on December 22, 2014 Hasmik Khachatryan’s domestic violence criminal court case came to an end. Sargis Hakobyan, her husband, had physically and emotionally abused and tortured her for 9 years and yet the court did not give this case a proper legal assessment, neither did the court assign for adequate measures to be taken against him. The court changed and mitigated Sargis Hakobyan’s accusation, setting him free from the courtroom in addition to unreasonably denying Hasmik’s claim for compensation for the harm she suffered in his hands.
We urge journalists and anyone who wants to support Hasmik Khachatryan in her important battle for justice to join the Women’s Support Center and the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women at the RA Court of Appeals. Address: Garegin Nzhdeh 23, Yerevan.
