“I have a right …” contest winning photos announced: event marking the International Human Rights Day
11:46, December 15, 2016 | News, Own newsAs already reported, on December 10, 2016, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor held an event to mark the International Human Rights Day entitled: “I have a right ….”
The event, accompanied by screening of the photos presented at the contest under similar title, was opened by the welcoming speech of Artur Sakunts, Chairman of HCA Vanadzor. In his speech, he highlighted organizing human rights day events both in the capital and in the marzes (regions).
By invoking the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its principles, A. Sakunts highlighted the adherence of the Republic of Armenia to various international conventions and a number of international organizations noting that we still did not seek full implementation of our opportunities to the benefit of RA citizens.
Then representatives of HCA Vanadzor briefly presented the human rights situation in the current year according to the data obtained by the Organization.
In the second part of the event, the organizers screened HCA Vanadzor’s video-report “Periodic Disease” about the violations of human rights in the Republic of Armenia in 2014-2015.
The participants exchanged views on the film and put forward suggestions.
At the end of the event, the organizers awarded the participants of “I have a right …” photo contest; 3 of them were considered winners by public vote and their authors received cash prizes: 25.000, 20.000 and 15.000 AMD, respectively. The other competition participants were awarded participation certificates and honorable mention prizes.
Below are the titles of the winning photos: “I have a right to happy childhood, too” by Hasmik Karapetyan, “I have a right to freely express my opinion” by Samvel Kirakosyan and “I have a right to free political views” by Hranush Mashakaryan.
