Court hearing on young Lia Misakyan’s case postponed

Melkonyan, examined the criminal case on charges against Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan under Article 130(2) of RA Criminal Code.
The court hearing was attended by defendants L. Vardanyan and Z. Ayvazyan, aggrieved party Georgi Misakyan, 2-year-and-3-month-old Lia Misakyan’s successor, and his representative Tatevik Siradeghyan, lawyer at Yerevan Office of HCA Vanadzor.
Presiding judge M. Melkonyan said that the prosecutor on the case informed the court by phone that he was transferred to another job and it was not clear yet who would act as prosecutor on the case. Thus, the court postponed the hearing till December 12, 2016, 4 pm.
Note that by the judgment of the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts of Yerevan city, RA, Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan, doctors on duty at ‘Arabkir’ Medical Center, were found guilty of committing an act under Article 130(2) and sentenced to imprisonment of 2 years and 2 years and 6 months, respectively, without any additional penalty. At the same time, Para 4(1) of the amnesty act adopted on the 22nd anniversary of the RA independence was applied to the defendants and they were exempted from serving their sentences. Later, the RA Court of Cassation partially granted, in terms of additional penalty, the appeal of Artur Sakunts, representative of the victim’s successor and Chairman of HCA Vanadzor, and reversed the judicial acts of the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts of Yerevan city, RA, and the RA Court of Criminal Appeals and sent the case for re-examination on that part.
