A Criminal Case Regarding Derenik Gasparyan will be Filed

On March 2011, Kotayk Region Court of First Instance decided to reject the resolution over filing a criminal case.
The Court satisfied the claim submitted by Arayik Zalyan, successor of Derenik Gasparyan, to reject the resolution over closing the criminal case brought up by the interrogator and oblige Kotayk Region Prosecutor’s office to reach a relevant decision regarding the appealed resolution.
It should be noted that the criminal case over 10-year-old Derenik Gasparyan’s death was filed 46 days later. The case was initiated based on “severe physical damage that occurred prior to death” and not the fact of “death” itself.
The incident occurred at school during the exam, when the school administration took no measures to intervene while the 10-year-old boy was being severely beaten by his peers, which caused the boy’s death.
