Human Rights Defenders Warn: Accumulation of Heavily-built Men in Civilian Clothing Seen in Erebuni District in Yerevan

An Urgent Statement on Criminal Groups
According to the news spread among the public and the information provided by the mass media, today an accumulation of heavily built men in civilian clothing has been noticed in Erebuni District in Yerevan. According to credible information, those are criminal groups, which are most likely going to be directed towards peaceful protesters. We hereby state that the responsibility for the potential violence against the participants in the peaceful protest actions lies on the authorities even if the persons resorting to violence present themselves as “drivers angry” about the inconveniences of traffic.
The RA Police shall lead an effective and real fight against organized criminality and prevent any attempt at physical and psychological violence against the peaceful protesters.
