Yesterday Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Artur Sakunts applied to Gevorg Kostanyan with a claim to file a criminal case against Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, RPA board member Khachik Asryan and subject him to liability under Article 137 of the RA Criminal Code to Article 137 of the RA Criminal Code, that is “Threat to murder, to inflict heavy damage to one’s health or to destroy property” is deemed a crime and it foresees criminal responsibility.

Newsbook.am attempted to inquire from Khachik Asryan what he was going to do in this case.  “I have stopped commenting on the issue regarding Zaruhi Postanjyan, since I have clearly stated that whatever had been told by me implied a completely figurative connotation.  Not to burn her body, but her conduct and the phenomenon in the PACE hall”, stated head of “Armenian Eagles” NGO in response to our question.

To the question whether Aryan thought it was unfair to lodge a criminal case against him, he noted, “Of course, since like Zaruhi Postanjyan, every RA citizen also has the right to freedom of expression, including me, and I have exercised my right to freedom of speech and expression.”

The RPA board member excluded existence of any criminal element in his words.

“I have merely figuratively stated that her act and conduct should be demolished along with her obscene expressions directed against the symbols of our statehood”, he explained.

Asryan was not sure whether or not a criminal case would be lodged against her since he was not entitled to answer that question. In the meantime, he noted he trusted the RA system of justice.

“I do not have the least doubt and I definitely trust the righteousness and fairness of the RA legal system”, stated Asryan.

Answering our question whether Asryan thought President Serzh Sargsyan would protect him upon necessity, he replied, that the President did not defend anyone, that all of the processes in that field took place in line with the law.

“In any case, I am sure that my words did not contain any crime elements or criminal directives and it could not have contained, knowing myself well enough”, Asryan concluded his words.

It is worth noting that on October 10 in an interview with Yerkir.am, while addressing the question posed to Serzh Sargsyan by the RA NA deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan, Asryan noted,  “Zaruhi Postanjyan should be burned on fire alive and not as Joan of Arc but as Ramil Safarov”. On October 11, Zaruhi Postanjyan applied to RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan to ensure the security of her and her family, since Asryan might this or that way attempt to carry out his appeals for revenge against Zaruhi Postanjyan.
