YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan has released a statement, the PM’s office said.
“Dear countrymen,
I am addressing all citizens of the Republic of Armenia
The elderly and my dearest youth,
Men and women,
I am addressing those who stood on the streets day and night with “Reject Serzh” calls and those who were reaching their offices with difficulty and carrying out their duty without complaining,
I am addressing those who were following live broadcast for days and those who were ensuring public order for day and night manly,
I am addressing our courageous soldiers and officers who are standing at the border, I am addressing my brothers in arms,
I am addressing my fellow party-men, all political forces and politicians,
I am addressing you for the last time as leader of the country.
Nikol Pashinyan was right. I was wrong. The situation has several solutions, but I will not take any of them. That is not mine. I am leaving office of the country’s leader, of Prime Minister.
The street movement is against my tenure. I am fulfilling your demand.
Peace, harmony and reasoning for our country.

The three NA deputies Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan have been released.

This morning students Yerevan State Medical University students staged a student strike and started a protest march. Police officers tried to hinder their march and beat some of the students, aiming to detain them. One of the students started feeling unwell and was taken to hospital. As reported by a1plus.am, as of 12.15, 50 persons were detained. As of April 23, 33 persons were arrested.
The RA Ministry of Healthcare reported that, as of 11 am on April 23, 4 citizens injured during the rallies are receiving treatment in hospitals of Yerevan.
The protest actions continue in different localities in Armenia. Students of different educational institutions have been locked out and are not allowed to participate in the protest actions.
Not long ago, RA Deputy Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan announced that he mediated to recall the request to the National Assembly about the arrest of the NA deputies and is going to meet with Nikol Pashinyan.

The peaceful marches and rallies continue in Yerevan and other localities in Armenia.
Mass labor strikes and student strikes have been staged.
In many localities, strikers are not allowed to leave their institutions.
Today, on April 23, the number of protesters has risen dramatically in Vanadzor in comparison with the previous days.
In many educational institutions, including Vanadzor State University, a student strike has been staged; a labor strike has been staged in shopping centers; a great number of citizens employed by Gloria Sewing Factory and other institutions have staged a labor strike and joined the protest actions.
In some parts of the city, obstacles are artificially created by blocking the roads to hinder the movement of protesters.
