Protester Taron Siradeghyan claims damages from the RA Police

On December 4, 2017, following the reversal by the RA Court of Appeal, proceedings were initiated in respect to Taron Siradeghyan’s claim against the RA Police at the RA Administrative Court.
It should be reminded that on February 24, 2017 the RA Administrative Court of Appeal recognized as unlawful the Police actions against Taron Siradeghyan implemented during the protest against electricity tariff rise and rejected the demand of the RA Police to hold him liable.
Taron Siradeghyan and his representative Tatevik Siradeghyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor Representative Office in Yerevan, claim non-pecuniary damages caused by unlawful bureaucracy from the RA Police in the amount of 465,000 AMD.
Prior to this, RA Police Chief V. Gasparyan had satisfied in part Taron Siradeghyan’s application for compensation in the amount of 500,000 AMD and provided 35,000 AMD as compensation for damage. However, T. Siradeghyan, finding this decision to be groundless and believing that the application should have been fully satisfied, applied to the Court with the claim to receive the remaining amount of the compensation.
At the session on December 4, the Court declared that the RA Ministry of Finances had submitted an application, requesting to be involved in the case as a third person. The Parties did not object to the motion.
The court session was adjourned with the purpose of giving the Ministry of Finances the opportunity to show up at the Court.
