During the discussion, the research officers of the Bar Association- Lawyers Collective, Gabriel Armas-Cardona and Kate Barth, who work under the subordination of the UN Special Rapporteur on Right to Health presented the international standards for the right to health and the Global Health and Human Rights Database.
The Global Health and Human Rights Database offers an interactive, searchable, and fully indexed website of case law, national constitutions and international instruments.
The Global Health and Human Rights Database already contains the judgment of the Court of Cassation on A. Antonyan’s case presented by HCA Vanadzor.
During the second part of the discussion, Arayik Zalyan and Ani Chatinyan, lawyers of HCA Vanadzor, presented a number of cases of strategic importance in terms of the right to health that are currently under consideration of the organization.
The lawyers of the company also presented some alarming statistics. Hence, according to the data, the total death rate of children aged 0-4 reached 463 in 2013; 506 in 2012 and 594 in 2011, respectively.
The training developed into a lively discussion, with questions raised on mechanisms of control over the compliance with the commitments taken by the states within the UN, the CoE and within the national systems and the efficiency of such mechanisms. Lawyers, journalist and young people volunteering in the RA took part in the discussion.
