By ”European Choice” Initiative on the
Association Agreements signed between Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and the European Union on June 27th, 2014
On June 27th, 2014, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia successfully completed the process of signing association agreements with the EU.
We welcome the progress of the states engaged in the Eastern Partnership Programme along with Armenia. We are convinced that this step is a sign of sovereign will, which will bring about significant and landmark political and civilizational change, and will become a guarantee of security and stability in the significant part of the post-soviet landscape.
At the same time, we deeply regret that due to the known decisions of the Armenian authorities, Armenia not only missed the opportunity of becoming part of this progress, but also disoriented itself from European integration towards the unprospective Eurasian Union.
Nonetheless, we believe that the step of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, being a new incentive for the democratization and modernization of these countries, will serve as a bridge for experience sharing and other practical undertakings for the other members of the EU Eastern Partnership Programme, especially for the civic and political institutions in Armenia that choose the path of European integration.
Being one of these institutions, European Choice Initiative expresses its interest and willingness to develop partnership with the likeminded representatives of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, viewing it as a new opportunity for comprehensive expansion and meaningful enrichment of relations with the EU.
We express our hope that Armenia will return to the agenda of EU association agreement and by doing so it will reinforce its aspirations towards strengthening its sovereignty, reforms and European value system and broad international integration, all based on mutual respect and reciprocal interests.
