Today’s mood to leave the country did not exist even during 1991-1995, Artur Sakunts
22:39, November 3, 2013 | News | Civil ControlThe RA National Statistical Service has published the final figures regarding the RA arrivals and departures of January-September, which is better known as migration rate.
Pursuant to the statistics, during the first 9 months of this year 1 118 693 RA citizens left Armenia and 996 492 citizens arrived in. The ratio of leaving and arriving people is negative: 122 191. However, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Artur Sakunts does not trust the official data, by his words, the number of migrants is actually greater.
Speaking about causes, Sakunts first of all prioritized the presence of the sense of insecurity. “Citizens do not feel protected by law, moreover, there is no justice, there are neither safeguards of economic, physical, safety and social security”, Artur Sakunts went into details.
According to him, as a result of all this, people see leaving the country as the only way out. “Despair is also one of the causes, there is no hope for situational change”, stated Sakunts stressing that even during the worst times of the country in 1991-1995, when were going through war, there was no such a mood to leave the country.
