The Russian side has not provided the RA Investigative Committee with any materials of the criminal case on V. Permyakov’s desertion from the military unit
Arayik Zalyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor and representative of the Avetisyans’ successor, applied by his letter of June 23, 2017 to the RA Investigative Committee to get information on internal investigation into failure by the persons responsible at the military base to immediately inform the RA law enforcement agencies that V. Permyakov, convicted under the murder of the Avetisyans’ family, voluntarily left the military unit and on the findings of such investigation.

At the court hearing of November 18, 2016, under the examination of the appeals against the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) judgment of August 23, 2016 on the murder of the Avetisyans family, HCA Vanadzor Chairman Artur Sakunts, representative of victim’s successor, filed a motion on challenge of Gevorg Gevorgyan, prosecutor on the case, noting that the latter showed inconsistent position in terms of representing the interests of the victims’ successors.

As reported before, the judgment of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) on the Avetisyans family murder dated August 23, 2016, by which V. Permyakov, military serviceman at Russian military base № 102 and accused of the murder, was sentenced to life imprisonment, was appealed.
The crime is not fully detected; the Avetisyans’ case appealed to the Court of Appeals
On August 23, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak marz (region) announced at an outgoing court hearing the judgment on the Avetisyans family murder case by which Valery Permyakov, a serviceman at the Russian military base № 102 located in Gyumri accused of the murder was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Russia will answer for the murder of the Armenian family
Andranik and Narine Poghosyans, successors of Araksya Poghosyan, victim in the Avetisyans family murder case, lodged a complaint, with the support of HCA Vanadzor, against Russian Federation to the European Court of Human Rights on violations of the rights under Article 2 (Right to life) and Article 13 (Right to effective remedy) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The complaint was substantiated by the fact that there were substantial and procedural violations within the sense of Article 2 of the ECHR.
