On May 30, 2017 Sari Tagh district protestor Hrachya Boyajyan’s defense attorney Arayik Zalyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor, filed with the European Court of Human Rights an application on his illegal arrest and detention.
ECtHR received the complaints of ‘Sari Tagh’ district protesters
By its letters of June 16 and July 12, 2017, the European Court of Human Rights stated that the ECtHR received the complaints of ‘Sari Tagh’ district protesters Gagik Mikayelyan and Hovhannes Ghazaryan.

On June 13, 2017 the General Jurisdiction Court of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts resumed questioning of the police officers declared victims after ‘Sari Tagh’ incidents.
Note that protesters Hrachya Boyajyan, Arman Adamyan and Zhora Avetisyan are charged with using violence against RA Police officers under Article 316(2) of the RA Criminal Code.

Hrachya Boyajyan’s defense counsel Arayik Zalyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor, has repeatedly voiced the non-correct and baseless assessment given to the actions of Hrachya Boyajyan detained on the charges of using violence against the RA Police officers on July 19, 2016 in the area adjacent to M. Khorenatsi Street in Yerevan city under Article 316(2) of the RA Criminal Code, i.e. throwing at them stones and other items.

Today, HCA Vanadzor lawyer Arayik Zalyan, defense counsel of Hrachya Boyajyan who took part in Sari Tagh district protest, visited his client detained at ‘Nubarashen’ penitentiary facilities. The latter was on hunger strike for already 10 days and was kept on ground floor of the penitentiary facilities. The Group of Public Observers Monitoring RA MoJ Penitentiary Facilities and Institutions voiced repeatedly the poor conditions of the cells on that floor.
This time the hearing on Sari Tagh protesters’ case was not attended by prosecutor
Today, the RA General Jurisdiction Court of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts again postponed the court hearing on the case of Sari Tagh protest participants Hrachya Boyajyan, Arman Adamyan and Zhora Avetisyan.
Court of Criminal Appeals noted: “Hovhannes Ghazaryan is unlikely to influence the police officers who testified against him”

Today, on February 13, 2017, the RA Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the appeal of ‘Founding Parliament’ supporter Hovhannes Ghazaryan’s defense counsel Ani Chatinyan, lawyer at HCA Vanadzor, and reversed the ruling of the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun Administrative Districts of Yerevan city, RA, of January 23, 2017 on extending Hovhannes Ghazaryan’s detention period for another 2 months.
Due to public defenders’ failure to attend court hearings, examination of Sari Tagh district protester’s case is postponed for already 4th time
On February 10, 2017 the General Jurisdiction Court of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts scheduled the next-in-turn court hearing on the case of Sari Tagh protest participants Hrachya Boyajyan, Arman Adamyan and Zhora Avetisyan.
RA court rulings on keeping Hovhannes Ghazaryan, supporter of the Founding Assembly in detention will be challenged before the ECtHR
On January 23, 2017, the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts of Yerevan city, RA, again extended by 2 months the period of detention of Hovhannes Ghazaryan, supporter of the Founding Parliament and participant of the protests following the seizure of the RA Police Patrol and Guard Service Regiment by ‘Sasna Tsrer’ group on July 17, 2016. He will remain in custody till March 30, 2017.
Competent authorities show a differentiated approach: obvious reprisal against protesters
