625 Apostolic Church clergymen have been exempted from military service or received deferments by the resolution of RA Government, while 444 representatives from a religious organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses” have been convicted to imprisonment because of renouncing military service since 1998.
Human rights protagonist Artur Sakunts, Chairman of HCA- Vanadzor, has made such a post on his Facebook page by stating that the outcomes of the studies conducted by his organization testify the aforementioned.
“And at the public level it is an overstated fact that Jehovah’s Witnesses demolish the army, go against the national interests and etc… However, the numbers represent a completely different image”, sated Artur Sakunts.
As a comment to his post, Sakunts also stresses that “the status makes a great difference: for one party is has a positive outcome and for the other a negative one…”
“And so what? After all it is publicized that they are against discrimination, what is this then?” has stated the human rights activist.
