RA Criminal Policy Reform Proposals in the Context of Human Rights Project
00:00, November 8, 2011 | Press Release | Right to LifeBeginning November 1, 2011 Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor is implementing an RA Criminal Policy Reform Proposals in the Context of Human Rights Project funded by Counterpart International Armenia.
The goal of the project is, as a result of legislative or practice changes, to promote the reforms of the criminal policy, which can be accomplished through a fundamental analysis of the problems in the field of human rights and through revealing the causes of their violations.
The main objectives of the project are:
•Conducting a research on the human rights violations (HRV)
•Discovering the legislative omissions and practical issues leading to HRV
•Providing recommendations for eliminating the causes of HRV
•Conducting court procedures regarding HRV
•Collecting information about cases connected with the right to life from lawyers practicing in the RA territory
•Summarizing information about the right to life at closed and semi-closed institutions operating in the RA territory
•Preparing and publishing a manual on “The Right to Life in the RA after the Elimination of Death Penalty”
The duration of the project is 8 months.
The expected outputs of the project are:
•An analysis of the causes of the most frequently violated rights
•Recommendations for correcting those causes
•Case-laws for improving the target area
•A manual on “The Right to Life in the RA after the Elimination of Death Penalty”.
