The Fifth Column in Armenia
00:00, October 29, 2011 | Press Release | Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesIt is not a secret that the majority of “human rights protection” organizations, especially those which are funded by various international structures and foundations, are mainly busy wasting the grants or spending the money for some disguised purposes, such as interfering in the political life of our country and discrediting our government structures.
Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor and its Chairman, Artur Sakunts, known to the public for protecting religious sectarians and discrediting the army, especially stands out with this type of working style.
Recently focusing his efforts on the army, Sakunts organizes different events, discussions, and occasionally comes up with unsubstantiated statements. The sole purpose of all this is to discredit the administration of the army in the eyes of the citizens and cause their dissatisfactionwith the authorities.
Sakunts does not even think (or maybe he does it intentionally) that by constantly discrediting the army, he creates a wrong and biased picture of the armed forces in the minds of young men, who haven’t yet been recruited. This affects their further service negatively, unless, of course, they take steps to “get released from service”.
And one of the ways to avoid the army is joining some religious sects, which are diligently protected by Sakunts, because various suspicious international structures fund them generously.
According to our sources, in the first 9 months of 2011, the Open Society Foundations-Armenia, better known as Soros Foundation, provided 1 million dollars in grants to various organizations in the RA. Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, led by A. Sakunts, is among those organizations, and received 65,000 dollars for implementing a project in the area of human rights protection.
There are two possibilities: either Artur Sakunts, on his own initiative, and without coordinating with the donor organization, is engaged in discrediting the Armenian Army, instead of protecting human rights; or the grants are actually being given for that very purpose of discrediting.
In fact, HCA Vanadzor and Artur Sakunts become dangerous factors for the Armenian Army. For example, Sakunts and his friends submit regular inquiries to the Ministry of Defense, demanding information that the enemy is willing to pay a higher price for. And if the ministry does not provide the information, Sakunts presents it as a violation of human rights and freedom of information.
These facts are widely known, and the international organizations, which fund Sakunts, are also aware of them. Here we have the well-known triangle for preparing color revolutions: revolution centers, intermediary non-governmental organizations, and local representatives of international organizations, which provide funds for people like Sakunts, for destabilizing the country and turning the citizens against their own country.
Their sole purpose is to discredit Armenia and to conduct a negative campaign for adequate funding, and this is done regularly on a large scale.
