Human Rights Project focused on the Protection of Patients’ Rights
00:00, July 18, 2011 | Press Release | Rights of Patients | Drug usersSince early 2011, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor has been carrying out a capacity building project, with the financial support of “Open Society Institute”.
One of the components of the project is directed at the protection of the rights of patients, specifically, drug abusers and people with psychological health issues. Within the framework of this project, it is planned to conduct a monitoring over fair trial of drug abusers. A group of monitors, who participated in the professional training sessions, was formed for this purpose; however, observations have been underway since May, 2011.
To get a complete image for the preparation of a criminal case, the preliminary investigation stage should also be considered. Only advocates, involved in specific cases, are eligible to collect such data. HCAV calls on advocates, who were enrolled in the preliminary investigation in Lori, Shirak, Tavoush Regions or the City of Yerevan during 2011 to provide legal assistance or carry out the protection of suspects or the accused, charged with committing crimes, punishable by Articles 266, 267, 268, 269, 269.1, 270, 271, 272, 273, 274 of the RA Criminal Code.
The gathering of data on preliminary investigations must be carried out by means of monitoring cards tailored by the organization, which will be filled out by advocates in regard to the completed cases of the preliminary investigation.
Advocates willing to cooperate are kindly asked to call Tatevik Matinyan at 0322-42268 or 091 255898 or contact her at tmatinyan@hcav.am.
