Traveling to Yerevan is again Impeded

Today, April 28, 2011, on the day of the opposition’s rally in Freedom Square, minibusesfrom Lori Region cities to Yerevan did not operate.
Once again,the right of citizens to freedom of movement was restricted bythe inactivity and complete ignorance of regional authorities, law-enforcement bodies, and the RA Ministry of Transport.
In spite of the April 27, 2011 statement disseminated by the RA authorities that they recognize the rights of citizens to assemblies and rallies and freedom of expression, persistent restrictions continue. Thesituation on this matter is a fact and has no correlation with the Government’s undertaking of human rights protection as they are unwilling to initiate any actions for the elimination of unyielding human right violations.
