Caucasus – Culture օf Differences
00:00, August 1, 2006 | Press Release | Freedom of Information and SpeechOn July 20-23, 2006 the seminar “ Caucasus – Culture of Differences” for young journalists took place in Tbilisi , Georgia .
The seminar was implemented by HCA Vanadzor within the framework of the project “Trustbuilding” supported by Interchurch Peace Council (IKV) and ICCO.
The goal of the seminar was to involve young journalists from the countries involved in the conflict in peacemaking process and to prepare joint journalistic works.
Leyla Mirjavadova (“Trend” news agency, Baku), Ellada Khankishieva (“Trend” news agency, Baku), Aynura Heydarova (“Internews” Ganja), Gita Elibekyan (Public Radio, Yerevan), Irina Yelyan (“Last TV”, Goris), Irina Badalova (“Helsinki Initiative ‘92” Stepanakert), Lusine Musayelyan (“Stepanakert Press Club”, Stepanakert) participated in the seminar.
The trainers were Seymur XXX from Baku , Armen Sargsyan from “Internews-Armenia”, Yerevan and Artak Ohanyan from HCA Vanadzor.
The trainers selected topics suggested by the participants according to which the participants prepared video materials and articles for the seminar.
The work was carried out in two groups: the group on video journalism and the group on printed materials.
The participants made the script of the video film with the help of trainers. In the result of the two-day video editing a video film was made called “Caucasus-Culture of Differences”. It contains 4 materials: “ Baku-Old New City ” (Leyla Mirjavadova-Baku), “ Caucasus-Country of Three Flames ” (Irina Yelyan, Goris), which is devoted to the culture of Ashughs of Armenia, “ Sheki halva ” (Aynura Heydarova, Ganja) and “ Khnetsi ” (Lusine Musayelyan-Stepanakert).
On the first day, the group working on printed materials discussed the materials that were prepared in places. In the result, it was decided to make a joint material on Caucasian carpets.
During the seminars the series of following articles was made : “ A Caucasian Carpet Store ” (Irina Badalova, Stepanakert, Gita Elibekyan, Yerevan , Leyla Mirjavadova-Baku), “ Jazz: Music for the Soul ” (Ellada Khankishieva-Baku), “ Our Gorges are Full of Songs ” (Irina Yelyan-Goris) under the title “ Caucasian Nations, Different Nations ”. The materials of the seminar will be disseminated during peacebuilding activities carried out by HCA Vanadzor. The translated variant of the video film will be shown within the framework of Armenian-Azeri youth project implemented by Internews-Armenia. According to the participants Ganja local TV was interested in showing the film.
