The response of free democrats regarding the issue of the RA membership in the Customs Union

On September 19, 2013 Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor received another response to the letters sent out to the National Assembly. Chairman of Free Democrats Party Khachatur Qoqobelyan writes in his reply:
“In response to the letter addressed to me on September 9, 2013 I would like to inform you that I, both as a deputy of the RA National Assembly and as the chairman of Free Democrats Party, have subsequently expressed my firm disposition regarding the membership of the Republic of Armenia in the Customs Union. My disposition and that of my party is clear-cut: we are against the RA’s membership in the Customs Union, since it is an unconstitutional undertaking and endangers the RA’s autonomy. At the NA session of September 10, during the period of statements, I came up with a speech condemning this step of the RA authorities and presenting the deposition of my party and that of mine. Moreover, I would like to inform that back in July 31, 2012, when the Customs Union and the RA’s membership in it was only being discussed, the Free Democrats was the only political force that came up with a condemning statement.”
