RA SIS Delayed Resolution of the Motions Submitted by the Organization
22:30, August 6, 2015 | News, Own newsOn July 2, 2015, the RA Special Investigation Service initiated criminal proceedings under Article 309(2), Article 164(2) and Article 185(1) of the RA Criminal Code, upon the crime report submitted by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor and publications by the mass media.
Under the criminal proceedings initiated, on July 15, 2015, the Organization submitted motions to the investigating agency to involve the police officers who used violence against the peaceful protesters on Baghramyan Avenue on June 23, 2015 as accused in the criminal case initiated. The motion covered the names and surnames of the police officers who had used violence against the protesters and whose names were discovered, Also, the Organization attached to the motion the photos of the plainclothes police officers, so that the Police determined their identities and brought charges against them. The other motion stated that charges should be brought against Hounan Poghosyan, Deputy Chief of the RA Police, and Levon Yeranosyan, Deputy Chief of Police and Commander of the RA Police Troops and supplemented the charges with the grounds evidencing the fact that the latter concealed the crimes of the police destroying the video cameras and memory cards of the journalists who shot acts of violence, since L. Yeranosyan and H. Poghosyan by their actions allowed a publicly dangerous act: ordering the police officers to destroy the videos shot by journalists aimed to conceal the crimes committed by the police and such behavior was motivated by the desire to conceal the crimes committed by them and high-ranking police officials. Upon considering the motions above, on July 21, 2015, the investigating agency decided to delay the resolution of the motion till finding out substantial facts required for arriving at a decision.
