17:55, July 5, 2016 | News, Own newsOn June 18-26, 2016, Georgia hosted the 2nd training workshop of “Education for Peace: Competences for Peace Education in the Youth Field” educational project attended by 3 representatives from each of the countries below: European countries: Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Ukraine, and 3 South Caucasus countries: Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The Project is carried out by European Intercultural Forum functioning in Germany and Academy for Peace and Development functioning in Georgia, within Erasmus + European Union Program.
HCA Vanadzor is a project partner organization.
The organizers of the Project and their partner NGOs from the countries above try to create a platform for the young people in conflicting regions with the help of which they will be able to meet each other, study the ongoing conflicts, find ways of resolving and transforming the conflicts and lay the basis to establish peace in the region.
One of the Project objectives is to prepare young trainers who will hold peace-building trainings in their own regions.
The training participants were open to cooperation, exchange of ideas and building international contacts.
The training started with summing up the previous stage and development of new projects; the training participants discussed the agenda and activities of the following 7 days. The participants were offered a training program by the principle of non-formal education; under the program, the principles and knowledge necessary for holding seminars and trainings were introduced. The Project trainers shared their experience and not only the skills required for holding seminars, but also the knowledge required for organizing and facilitating seminars and obtaining relevant feedback.
Then based on the theoretical knowledge and various methods of conflict studies and holding seminars, the group drafted their own 2-day training, identified the topics and outlined the timetable. In the following 2 days, groups of 3 participants held 1-hour trainings. Each group organized its training independently, planned the activities to be taken within 1 hour, found the thematic materials and drafted the speeches, practical activities and games.
After the presentation of each trio, the project trainers and the group discussed the training held by the trio, its advantages and disadvantages and presented proposals to improve it.
The training course made it possible for the participants to gain knowledge on carrying out peace-building projects, including seminars in their respective regions.
The representatives of each country will receive the opportunity of taking peace-building actions in their own communities within small grants.
