Regained life at Spitak Care Home
10:51, April 28, 2017 | News, Own newsIn May 2016, Spitak Care Home for persons with psychosocial disabilities started functioning in Spitak community of Lori marz (region).
The Care Home hosts 10 persons, 6 of whom were placed for long at closed institutions providing care services for persons with psychosocial and mental disabilities and after moving to the Care Home at last got a chance to live free. The other 4 residents once succeeded in avoiding closed institutions and now got the opportunity to live independently.
Every resident of Spitak Care Home is on his/her way to give a new meaning to their life and regain their life. After long years of inaction, they got for the first time the opportunity, albeit short-term, to work and earn a living. One of the residents is a teacher and helps a Care Home staff member’s grandchild with home-task.
One of the Care Home residents used to rarely communicate with his/her family members during the 16 years at Vardenis Psycho-neurological Boarding House, but after moving to Spitak Care Home he/she visits the family members and stays at their place overnight, goes shopping and has a good time with them. Another resident had never met his/her family members while staying at Vardenis Boarding House and thanks to Spitak Care Home restored his/her ties with family.
Spitak Care Home gave each resident the opportunity of freedom, self-expression, reintegration into society and self-evaluation of their own self and life.
